Shutoff valve unreliable
By B. Clegg
This heater operates as advertised if the thermocouple-secured shutoff valve allows the flame to turn on. It takes a lot of fiddling with the shutoff valve to turn to the two 'on' positions even after the pilot has been lit for 15 min. The pilot alignment appears to be as shown on the instruction manual. I find this difficult lighting to be a nuisance.

Mr. Heater 10,000 BTU Propane Radiant Vent Free Heater #VF10KRADLP
By Steve B
I have used the heater once and it works great so far. I had no problem with fumes as I used it in a well ventilated trailer.

Great little heater.
By Darrell W Darnell
The Mr. Heater #VF10KRADLP is a little larger than I expected, still a very attractive unit, that meets our need perfectly. Anyone using this type of heater should know the dangers of Carbon Monoxide and make sure the heater is operated safely. A new carbon monoxide detector should be installed( a smoke detector WILL NOT DETECT CARBON MONOXIDE), Windows or vents should be opened enough to allow fresh air into the room to replace combustion air. We use this heater in our 31' double slide 5th wheel RV. It is turned off at night for safety and quickly warms up the RV in the morning when turned back on. Other reviews of this heater find fault with the control knob, which is designed with stops to control the stages of operation. When pushed all the way down and turned it will create a spark, ignite the pilot and stop in that position, then it is held to allow the thermocouple to heat up. A slight rise of the knob will allow it to turn to the next; "pilot" stage. When released the control knob will spring back up and lock in each position. At the "Pilot" position the pilot only will burn; at the "Low" position one of the tiles will ignite, and on the "High" position the second tile will also ignite. Once you get the feel for the stops, it is easy to operate. This heater has no thermostat, and requires manual adjustment. My only issue with the heater is a noisy pilot. The pilot flame flutters rather than burn smoothly, which I think is caused by a slightly incorrect air/gas mixture.
