The best heater I've found thus far!
By Compton M. Cypress
I looked all over for an electric heater to heat our entire home, due to a serious issue of not having any other source of heating for our home right now. First I really fell in love with this model because Quartz heaters are so efficient in their ability to heat a room. Infrared can really heat a room better than other types of heaters, that is why farmers use this technology to heat entire drafty barns and other types locations. It also helped to see that this model would heat 1800-Square Feet, which is comparable to that of what you'll find most wood-pellet stoves capable of heating, which makes it a real consideration for a good choice of heating. Then comes the price, and you can shop around and compare, but its hard to beat the price for what you are getting overall, so I decided this was the heater for me.It finally arrived today, and then I saw the one and only draw back to it, which I should have known... It requires a "Dedicated 15-amp Electrical Outlet". If you do not know what this means, its simple... You know how some air conditioners have their very own single outlet which is round, but can look just like a normal electrical outlet for plugging in everything else in your house. Well its got one big difference, it is the only thing that draws power off from that one single 15-amp or 20-amp breaker! If you think it doesn't matter, think again, plug something like this in on a typical house outlet which powers your TV and other household devices you can end up tripping the breaker a lot, or just simply causing a house fire because you overloaded the wiring. The box for the heater clearly states it needs a "Dedicated Electrical Outlet", and so does the instructions, but they do not make any mention of it here or on the other places I've found this same company selling this exact same heater. The other thing is it clearly states in the instructions "Do not plug it into a GFCI Outlet", that is the outlet with the buttons which say Trip/Rest like you find in bathrooms, kitchens, and locations where water is present or near.I say "I should have known" because there is no way you can heat that much space without it taking a good bit of electricity to do it, and thus you need a dedicated outlet for such a job be it an air conditioner or a heater. So before you buy this, make sure you either have such an outlet to plug it into, or make sure you have plans for a licensed electrician to come in hook you up one before you plan on plugging this thing in. I sincerely hope this helps anyone considering this heater to have all the facts and information to make an informed purchase.***Update***I've now had this heater for a bit of time now as the temps are now getting up to highs of below zero, and water freezes at 32-degrees above zero, so you know it is cold here. I've got every type of heater I've got out and running to try and keep my house warm, including the oven being on to add more heat. Of all the electric heaters and types of electric heater's I've got I used an Infrared Thermometer to take temperature readings of the heat coming out of each heater, the highest readings I got was out of this heater at around 200-degrees, and the area around this heater for the things around it were the warmest of anything close to any of the heaters. So I can without a doubt say this is the heater which is producing me the most heat, and heating the most area of all the electric heaters I've got. As far as my electric bill goes, I feared it was going to jump as it did with other 1500-watt heater I've tried using, but I have surprisingly kept the electric bill the same and yeah they really came out to read the meter, I called and asked because I have been having trouble believing this. Personally I am so impressed that I plan to buy another (2nd) one of these because I have been so happy with it.

It's Perfect for Us
By John H. Williams
This is exactly what we wanted, maybe more. It's sturdy. It has red hot conductors inside that give off radiant heat. It blows warm air out horizontally. It provides LOTS of heat. It's remote controllable (came with TWO remotes!). It has a thermostat on it. It's cool on all sides other than the front. It's absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Hope you like it as much.

Works great! But I would double up the advertised square footage it covers if you want toasty warm.

This is a great way to save money on home heating costs! I bought this for my first floor which is a pretty much a 1200 square foot loft (60x20 feet open space). It does pretty well regulating the temperature of this space, however, since it's pretty much an open space it doesn't get nice and toasty. It's not cold! By far. It's a nice comfortable 70° on my entire first floor. My second floor is well insulated and stays warm on it's own fairly well. Except my bathroom. Since my thermostat, as everyone's most likely is, is on the first floor the second floor heating units controlled by my furnace (boiler) aren't getting heated because the thermostat isn't turning the boiler on. Which is great that I'm saving so much on heating costs (buying oil)!Something things you may want to consider when considering one of these are:1. They ARE great! But consider where your thermostat is. That is what controls the heat everywhere in your home. You may want to buy more then one infra red heater to make sure, like in my case, your bathroom also gets heated by a separate unit.2. With a large open space I would recommend getting an infra red heater stated to cover double your open space. That way it will get nice and toasty, no problems, and the infra red heating unit won't be running constantly...which saves us even more on heating costs.- The equation to figure out what your square footage is is LxW=Square feet (Length multiplied by Width). My first floor is an all-but wide open 60x20. I have this infra red unit in the front room. It runs constantly, and the back room doesn't fully get heated all the way to the back wall. So like I said...get a unit that is double the space you want to heat, or buy multiple units.Either way you WILL be saving money on heating costs. For me my electric bill, with one unit, has gone up $20. I'd MUCH rather spend an extra $20 on electricity than pay almost $1200 per month buying oil. I'm going to get more of these heaters. A smaller one for my upstairs bathroom and another one of these to put near the back wall of my first floor open space. I firmly believe that once I get the other one on my first floor neither of them will run constantly and I can make it nice and toasty warm.3. Make SURE you have at least a 15 amp dedicated circuit (GFI outlet recommended) for each unit of this specific type or larger. A dedicated circuit simply means that it has it's own breaker in your breaker box that nothing else but this heater unit runs off of. I haven't tested how true this requirement is but...I'm not sure I'm going to risk testing it either.Buy this! It will save you money if you have oil or gas heat for your home, for sure! They work well and they're safe for pets and kids. The only part that gets hot is the front of it inside the silver/gray borders. The rest of it is cool enough to touch.
